Will Ferrell is funny, but is he funny in Spanish? He and his Funny or Die Cohorts think so, and they’re planning his next movie entirely in the increasingly less foreign language.

The Wrap says Ferrell will star in and produce Casa de mi padre, which translates to House of my Father. The movie will be filmed entirely in Spanish and possibly subtitled in English, but don’t think this is Ferrell running off to do some foreign production aimed specifically at a Spanish speaking audience. One of Will’s Funny or Die friends will direct the movie and from the way it’s being described, maybe we should all be picturing something along the lines of Conan O’Brien’s “Conando” sketches. It sounds like it could be a Spanish-language movie intended for an English speaking audience. I guess that makes this Will Ferrell’s Apocalypto.

Whatever this Casa de mi padre really is, it’s ambitious. After a string of repetitive sports themed parodies a few years ago Ferrell seems to have rediscovered his creativity recently. You never know what he’ll do next.
