Will Forte Updates Us On His Upcoming Comedy Good Old-Fashioned Orgy
It's been nearly two years since SNL players Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis teamed up on the comedy A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy, and with MacGruber coming out this weekend and stealing all the SNL movie limelight, it's fair if you had forgotten that Orgy ever existed (I know I had). Lucky for me, though, another person sitting on my roundtable interview with Forte for MacGruber hadn't forgotten, and when she asked him about the project, he didn't have any idea when it might be coming out, but gave us a little info on what to expect.
As background, the movie stars Sudeikis as a groom-to-be who throws one last orgy to celebrate his remaining freedom. You know, like we all do. Forte, Iron Man's Leslie Bibb, Party Down's Martin Starr and none other than Don Johnson fill in supporting roles. Here's what Forte had to say about the film, which wrapped filming a while back:
I hope that comes out at some point. Its' a really fun movie. I know that at some point it will see the light of day. With that title you would expect it to be dirty, [but] it's a much cleaner movie than the MacGruber movie. There's some racy stuff, and it's really fun. But it's a really nice movie about a bunch of friends at the heart of it. They were able to keep it this fun comedy that doesn't get too gross, but it's still racy in the right way, in a delightful way.
The film's writing-directing team Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck have backgrounds only as writers for TV shows like King of the Hill and Letterman, so it's truly impossible to know what to expect from this "racy but sweet" tone Forte is talking about. If MacGruber is a hit-- and I'd really like it to be-- maybe that will be some impetus for Good Old-Fashioned Orgy to finally show up in theaters.
