It's been a long time since Will Smith had to suffer without money. Thinking back a billion years ago, he can remember that time he couldn't afford more than one beer at the bar. Now the big dilemma is one Mercedes or twelve.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Thandie Newton has signed on to star with Will Smith in The Pursuit Of Happyness for Columbia Pictures. The movie will be written by Steve Conrad who wrote The Weather Man. When is that movie coming out anyway? Seems like I saw previews for it back in 1995.
The Pursuit Of Happyness is a drama about Chris Gardner (Smith) who is an occasionally employed salesman about to start a stock brokerage intern program. However, he wins custody of his son from estranged wife Linda (Newton), and the father/son duo wind up living in a homeless shelter. Ouch.
Sounds like a real uppity flick. Be sure to bring a bottle of antidepressants to accompany your popcorn.
