Will Smith To Star In Vampiric Take On Cain And Abel
Strange as it may seem, Will Smith has actually only been in 19 moves dating back to 1992. When you consider that the man has been on the top of the A list since 1996, it says something about the man's likability. Hell, the most unlikeable character he has ever played was still a superhero that saved lives on a daily basis. The man has saved the world so many times that he may as well be a biblical figure. Oh, wait. That's his next project.
Deadline reports that Smith will produce and star in The Legend Of Cain, based on the bible story of Cain and Abel. But here's the twist - the plot involves vampires. The script was written by Caleeb Pinkett (Jada Pinkett Smith's brother) and Dan Knauf (Carnivale), with Mrs. Smith, James Lassiter, and Ken Stovitz co-producing under the Overbrook Entertainment label.
And here we have it folks, further proof that the vampire genre, much like the undead themselves, won't go away until we either cut off its head or stab it in the heart with a wooden stake. For those unfamiliar with the Old Testament tale, Cain and Abel is the story of Adam's two sons. In the story, Cain murders Abel in cold blood because he believes he has God' favor. Now tell me: where the hell do vampires fit into the mix?
