I almost hate reporting rumors like this, but I live with a terrible fear that the one time I don’t report one it’ll turn out to be true. So, read the following with this in mind: It’s probably a load of crap.
A website I’ve never heard of before called SneakPeakTV, reports that director Joss Whedon may be looking to hire Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra to play Wonder Woman in his upcoming girl power superhero movie. They cite absolutely no source for their claim, and little internet websites like this have been known to invent rumors just like this one in order to get traffic on their pages.
The whole thing sounds too convenient really. Chopra has gotten a little buzz stateside for her role in an Indian superhero movie called Krrish. So her name sounds slightly familiar to a few as a superheroine. It’s pretty hard to believe that Whedon would cast a Bollywood star as Wonder Woman, but if she knows kung fu, then that might be enough to tickle Joss’s sweet spot. She’s certainly beautiful enough. That’s her in the pic to your right.
No rumor too stupid to be reported here. Just don’t take this one seriously.

Wonder Woman isn't Greek; she's an Amazon! Amazons weren't even Greek! The Greeks only WROTE about them and located them around the Caucauses of S. Russia, where the women had dark hair. In fact there's some evidence that suggests that the modern-day descendents of the purported Amazons are in fact, the Mongols.
If there's one actress that comes to mind as the "perfect" Wonder Woman, it would have to former Summerland star and Junior Olympian, Taylor Cole. She's a relatively unknown twenty-something actress who resembles a young Lynda Carter. Who by the way, would make a great Queen mother to Ms. Cole's Wonder Woman. Go to: http://www.byrnerobotics.com/forum/uploads/DavidPerrin/2006-03-30_160142_taylor_cole.jpg for a quick pic of Ms. Cole and see for yourself. Or go to: http://www.taylor-cole.com/ for more info on this promising young actress.
Personally I want an actress that makes me WISH it had ben done as a brainless orgy of T&A
- for those for whom that might be confusing...a good script with a competent actress....whose got a genuine hot body that i wish i could see naked....
I'm more concerned about the script than anything else. As long as it is a well-written epic that respects the character, ala Batman Begins and Superman Returns, and not a brainless orgy of T&A, I'll be happy.
She's cute enough though Morena Baccarin is still my best choice, as Joss has worked with her before (Firefly/Serenity) which could be a good or a bad thing depending on what he thinks of her.
I can't speak for other sites, but we're happy to pick up the phone and check on it.
Who should we call?
Ah, you see that's the problem. In cases like this, there is no one to call. Trust me when I tell you that Joss Whedon isn't taking Cinema Blend's calls.
So, I've done the best I can to make clear how unlikely the rumor is, while at the same time letting folks know its out there.
It is a load of crap. Some Bollywood fan submitted to IMDB that she was in negotiations. Of course they posted it without verifying anything as they usually do. It has now disappeared from the site. IMDB was the original source of this false rumor even though it has been picked up and reported like a bad case of telephone all over the Internet. It is really pretty sad that no one feels the need to pick up phone and check on this kinda thing.
