Will's Wife Heads Behind The Camera![]()
Will Smith’s career has really taken off, with several genre films coming out in the next year to keep the actor in the very-public eye. For his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, however, the career has been something rather cool since she jacked into The Matrix sequels. Sure, she had Madagascar, but that didn’t really show off the best of her abilities (not that The Matrix Reloaded did). Quite a shame too, because Pinkett-Smith can be quite talented.
Sadly for those who want to see the actress on screen more, it looks like Jada is making a career move now – a move behind the camera. According to Filmjerk, the actress is planning on switching to both writing and directing with a story called The Human Contract. Will Smith will produce along with his partner James Lassiter, although Smith is not expected to appear in the film… or at least not to star. Despite a November 12th start date for filming, no cast has been announced yet. The story, written by Pinkett-Smith, follows Julian Wright – a successful businessman who hides a secret from the world that affects his very soul. When he meets Michael Reed, a “gorgeous stranger,” Julian finds himself leaving behind his corporate lifestyle and pursuing a more bohemian lifestyle – a decision that affects those around him, including his half-sister Rita, who suffers from an abusive spouse. I hate to say it, but the movie sounds a bit cliché. Then again, just about any movie does when it’s boiled down to a paragraph description. I’d much rather see Pinkett-Smith in front of the camera, but I’m interested to see what she can do behind it. |
