Wizard Of Oz Remastered And Returning To Theaters
Unless you’re lucky enough to live in Austin, odds are that most of the time the only thing playing at your local movie theater is whatever it was that happened to be number one last weekend. The folks at Fathom Events have been trying to change that, by bringing cool, niche theater events to cinemas all around the country. You’ve probably seen their advertisements for live concerts or opera performances broadcast on the screen, but every now and then they also do something really different. For instance there’s this: They’re resurrecting The Wizard of Oz.
For one night, on September 23rd at 7:00 pm in over 440 movie theaters around the country, you’ll be able to walk up to the box office and buy a ticket for The Wizard of Oz. It’s the film’s 70th Anniversary, and to celebrate they’ve remastered the film and will show it in beautiful, high-definition. Included along with the newly remastered movie, you’ll see: • A special welcome by TCM host Robert Osbourne and a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of The Wizard of Oz. G.I. Joe will be there whenever you want to see it. But unless you’re well into your 80s, odds are you’ve never seen The Wizard of Oz the way it was meant to be seen on the big screen. Mark your calendars and buy tickets in advance by visiting Fathom’s website. ![]() |
