The Wolf Of Wall Street Will Work Its Way Onto Blu-ray In March
This year’s Oscar nominees just keep on churning out Blu-ray news. Just a few weeks after American Hustle and 12 Years A Slave were given respective home entertainment release dates, Paramount Home Media Distribution has let fans in on when they can get their hands on Martin Scorsese’s latest, The Wolf of Wall Street. The movie is hitting Blu-ray and DVD on March 25. However, if you’re more of a Digital copy sort of person, you can purchase the movie early, beginning on March 18.
It’s no real surprise that the controversial film would have controversial cover art. The image is from one of the film’s promotional posters, but somehow with the Blu-ray release it feels a lot more risqué and wild, featuring a smiling Jordan Belfort standing out against a backdrop of bare chests, money and general revelry. Still, for those who have caught the film, the poster likely feels a little tame. The Wolf of Wall Street is no stranger to excess and nudity, to the point that it has turned off some viewers and even been banned or censored in several countries. Despite this, the flick is still Scorsese’s best box office intake to date.
The flick stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Jordan Belfort, a rising star in the world of stockbrokers in the 1980s. DiCaprio’s already won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the real-life character, and there is a good chance Paramount will be able to add some more awards stickers to the front of the box after the Oscars launch next month. Whether or not the film takes home any of the famous trophies, it has earned five nominations and a slew of fans, meaning the movie should enjoy a nice boost from home entertainment purchases.
The Wolf of Wall Street might be a little excessive, but Paramount Home Media Distribution’s release will not be. DVD copies, in fact, will come with no extras, while Blu-ray copies of the flick will only come with one extra, albeit a star-studded one. The bonus feature is called "The Wolf Pack," and will feature DiCaprio, Scorsese, Jonah Hill and more as they take fans behind-the-scenes during the making of the film and also discuss the real-life Belfort and his trajectory in the world of moneymaking. We really have no idea how lengthy or in-depth that extra will be, but fingers crossed it’s an information-filled one, at least if you are into that sort of thing.
While you wait for the big release, you can pre-order it over at Amazon.
