Wolfenstein Falls Victim To Strike![]()
Now that the writers' strike is underway, it’s time for the lists of movies that can continue work to come to an end and for stories about movies that are screwed to start coming forward. Roger Avary told Sci-Fi Wire that his adaptation of the Return to Castle Wolfenstein video game is in exactly that position. The movie can’t move forward because the script wasn’t done. With the strike underway, Avary can’t finish the script, leaving Castle Wolfenstein in limbo until the strike ends.
I wasn’t crazy about the idea of a Wolfenstein adaptation, so I’m not exactly hearbroken to hear the project is on hold. Then again, Avary’s work on the project so far sounds rather promising. Apparently the writer put some research into Nazis, American military, and paranormal subjects for the picture Avary describes as ” a World War II old movie of guys who are out on a mission, but this one will have the addition of monsters and horror and a lot of craziness all mixed together.” Avary hopes to direct the picture once it moves past the writing phase, but until the strike ends, there’s no returning to Wolfenstein. |
