The X-Men franchise may take a break, but Hugh Jackman isn't done playing Wolverine. The long rumored Wolverine spinoff movie is still underway, and Hugh told IESB that they now have a script. It's been signed off on, but that doesn't mean the movie will happen right away. "We’re a year away from shooting the film and we have the script," he says.
Why will it take a year for them to get going? I'm guessing Mr. Jackman's schedule is to blame. With less than three months to go, he'll be in five more films before the year is out. Then for 2007 and 2008 he has committed to another 6 movies, one of which is Wolverine. Not much time for bike tours across France, or if you're Ewan McGregor motorcycle tours across Russia.
The now certain Wolverine script was written by 25th Hour adapter and Troy screenwriter David Benioff. Hugh says it's "fantastic", but then what else is he gonna say? It's not like he can trash the guy, he still has to recite whatever he's written.
