Wolverine May Get A Pop Star

Wolverine May Get A Pop Star Remember when pop star Kylie Minogue played the part of Cammy in Street Fighter? How about that cameo appearance by Vanilla Ice in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Secret of the Ooze? It looks like the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine may be heading that same route, thanks to rumors that pop star Natalie Imbruglia may have a role in the movie.

The news comes courtesy of Digital Spy who says that Imbruglia auditioned for a part in the Hugh Jackman spin-off of the X-Men franchise, although for what role is unknown. Fortunately, Imbruglia isn’t just a pop star looking to move into movies. She actually has a little bit of acting experience under her belt, having previously appeared in a few episodes of the series Neighbours.

Lets be honest here. Wolverine really appears to be having a problem pulling a cast together. Sure, Jackman is pretty much a given since he’s the star, but there’s still been no news on whether Bryan Cox will be reprising the role of General Stryker for the movie, or if the rumor of Liev Schreiber playing a younger version of the character is true. Natalie Portman and Gerard Butler have been reportedly offered roles, although it seems to me that Imbruglia would be a likely replacement for Portman if that wasn’t happening.

No, the cast of the movie is anything but stable. Add in the crappy extended title, and my interest in the direction this spin-off is going is starting to diminish. Anyone else feeling that way?

Thanks to Filmstalker, where we first saw the story.
