Wonder Con Video Interviews: The Cast And Filmmakers Of Immortals![]()
It may not be the first clique to come to mind, movie-going audiences really do seem to love watching movies about Greek mythology. Taking just a sample from the last decade, Troy, 300 and Clash of the Titans all made more than $400 million at the global box office. For this reason it’s surprising that we don’t see more films in the genre each year, but 2011 does have an entry, and that film would be Immortals.
In the movie, Henry Cavill – who will soon better be known as Superman – plays Theuseus, a stonemason who vows revenge against King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) after his mother is killed during one of the king’s raids. Hyperion is after the Bow of Epirus, a bow that would allow him to overthrow the Gods of Olympus. While on his mission, Theseus meets a Sybelline Oracle (Frieda Pinto) that tells him that he is the only one that can stop the destruction. The rest of the cast is jam packed with names playing the Gods, including Luke Evans as Zeus, Isabel Lucas as Athena, and Kellan Lutz as Poseidon. Though the movie isn’t due out until November 11 (11-11-11 is pretty catchy), the cast and filmmakers – including director Tarsem Singh, producer Mark Canton, and stars Cavill, Evans and Lucas – were present at WonderCon this past weekend to give the masses a first look at the movie and talk with members of the press. Check out our interviews in the videos below, and for more on Immortals, be sure to head over to our Blend Film Database Luke Evans And Henry Cavill
