While the rejections are mounting up, leading me to wonder if the JLA movie is actually happening, other movies are being put on hold so more effort can be given to the superhero team-up. The first casualty is one that has been placed on the back-burner before and is now there again; the movie that can’t find a cast member either: Wonder Woman.
That’s right, despite being a part of the Justice League, and therefore potential for a dual-cast opportunity (like last week’s green-lit Flash movie), the movie about the Amazon princess has been shelved, again. Producer Joel Silver told Sci-Fi Wire that Wonder Woman has been put on hold so work can move forward on JLA.
Let’s be honest, Wonder Woman probably should have been put away when Joss Whedon left over creative differences. The Buffy creator was the main reason I was even interested in a Wonder Woman movie in the first place. Since then the project has been tossed around with almost a dozen different names semi-attached at one time or another, but nothing has come to fruition. Boxing up the project and putting it on a shelf should be considered a mercy kill… one that I almost expect JLA to find in its future if current casting (and rejection) rumors don’t start leading to something more solid soon.
