America Idol second placer Katharine McPhee is in line to star as Wonder Woman in the new Joss Whedon written and directed movie. Go ahead and read that sentence again. It deserves a double take.

It's no joke, that's the latest Wonder Woman casting rumor currently circulating on the internet. Of course the rumor comes with it a "but". Most of the places running it are crediting Hollywood.com with originating the story, but a quick search of Hollywood.com reveals no such headline.

The story has since been picked up by news syndicator UPI, but they offer no explanation for where the rumor might have been originated.

Couple all of that with the fact that we've already fought through a long line of fake casting rumors on the subject of Wonder Woman involving everyone from Sandra Bullock Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and you've got what is almost certainly a completely fake rumor.

Besides, even Joss Whedon's not that stupid.
