There isn't a super power that can save us from the impending doom of Hollywood beating the comic book movie to death. When you’re trying to produce a movie about a third-rate comic book hero and your director/writer leaves the project, you should probably move on and make a more respectable movie – but not Joel Silver. Silver was at the San Francisco’s WonderCon to promote his latest supernatural thriller The Reaping. In no time at all, a fan diverted the Q&A to Joss Whedon (Firefly, Serenity) leaving the Wonder Woman project, says The Sci Fi Wire.

"We're not there yet. I mean, look, ... for a while these Marvel Comics [movies] have been kicking the DC Comics [movies'] ass. You know? I mean all these characters that just keep coming out,” a flustered Silver said in an attempt to justify his doomed production. "And, look, they revived Batman. They're making a new Batman now. It should be great. They're making a new Superman, and they're going to do Justice League, all the characters, which I think is a cool idea. And we're going to get Wonder Woman to work.”

In a confusing sequence of events, Whedon left the production when his script was put down, leaving Warner Bros. to buy a Wonder Woman penned by Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland, which set the story during World War II. But Silver denied that the newly-purchased script will be the basis for the movie.

"We didn't buy it for that. There were some good ideas in it, but it was out there, and we wanted to just kind of not have it floating around. We wanted just to acquire it and keep it," Silver said.

If one thing is certain, it’s that there is no stopping the endless barrage of Hollywood comic book movie crap. Is there not a power in the universe that can save us from this torment? There is a secret power that lies deep within humanity that could save us all; it’s called the power of the purse. If you people stop sending these crap comic book movies to the top of the box office, then maybe Hollywood will stop making them.
