Woody Allen's Next Film To Open Tribeca Film Festival![]()
It makes sense for the Tribeca Film Festival to be excited about Woody Allen's next film, Whatever Works. The festival is dedicated to promoting arts in downtown Manhattan, and Whatever Works is the first film Allen has made in the city since 2004. So a dream partnership between the two was inevitable, and now Whatever Works will be the opening film of this year's Tribeca Film Festival.
In a press release announcing the film's placement in the festival, Allen was typically understated. "A lovely idea of showing my film in a film festival in my own city. It's very exciting." But the audiences will probably be more enthusiastic-- Allen is a big get for the relatively small festival, and the pair of Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood at the center of the film is sure to draw attention. The film will open the festival on April 22, and we'll finally figure out just how creepy it will be to see Larry David romance a girl in her early 20's. |
