World Trade Center Trailer![]()
I would love to sit here and make remarks about the inappropriateness of Oliver Stone’s upcoming World Trade Center, but those remarks have already been proven false by the release of United 93, a film many consider to have been done right. I would love to say Oliver Stone is the wrong man to tackle the 9/11 attacks, but the newly first trailer may very well prove those thoughts wrong as well. While Nicolas Cage’s New York accent may feel forced, the emotion of the film looks right. Not necessarily for what’s on screen, but for what notably isn’t.
What’s lacking? Any form of huge explosions. Any exploitation of those images we are all too familiar with by now of the planes crashing or the towers collapsing. What is here is a focus on two men and the movie appears to be more about the individual than the events as a whole. For some reason I’m accepting of that. Perhaps it’s because United 93 has already broken this ground, or perhaps it’s because of the personal approach the trailer promises, but I’m less angry about the idea of this film. I suggest you not take my opinion on that matter though, and decide on your own whether to check out the trailer and eventually the film.
