As the movie industry tries to continue the children's-book-adaptation land rush in the wake of Harry Potter, David Lieber seems to be at the center of it all. He's already adapted Septimus Heap: Magyk, a fantasy story very much in the Harry Potter line, and now he's been tapped for an adaptation of what's probably a very short book with a very long title-- Jeremy Cabbage and the Living Museum of Human Oddballs and Quadruped Delights.

According to Variety , the Fox 2000 movie will focus on a boy named Jeremy Cabbage, stuck at Harpwitch's Home for Mean Dogs, Ugly Cats and Stray Children. It's not exactly Hogwarts, but hey, it'll probably work. So many of these children's books get optioned and never actually result in movies, but the more projects Lieber takes on, I guess he's increasing his odds.
