Writers Strike May Soon Be Over![]()
After three months and a lot of disinterest from everyone who doesn’t live in Hollywood, the WGA strike may soon be over.
In the past few weeks the Writer's Guild has settled for a number of interim deals with smaller studios, but reportedly talks between the WGA leaders and major studio executives on Friday and Saturday have been going well, and word is that a settlement of this whole ridiculous mess may finally be happening. All this positivity is flowing from numerous different sources, including the New York Times, Variety, and anyone else who has been heavily into the business of touting insider connections with the WGA and studio leadership. Hint: Not us. That includes United Hollywood, the blog that’s been sort of serving as the unofficial face of the WGA for the past few months. They’re just as hopeful as everyone else, but they’re quick to point out that there is still no actual deal, and there won’t be until it’s in print. However, unless the negotiators take time off to attend temple services on Sunday, maybe we’ll have this thing over and done with by Monday? Some seem to believe that a contract may be presented to the Union for signing as early as next Friday. And if that does happen does it mean those damn JLA rumors are going to start up again? Maybe I’m not so eager for the strike to be over after all. |
