Talk of a second X-Files has been tossed around a lot this year. Last we heard, the sequel to the 1998 movie was going to start shooting in December, as we reported a month ago, with David Duchovny excited about returning to his character now that he doesn’t have to face him in a weekly series grind. Gillian Anderson is also expected to put in an appearance, although she’s certainly been less talked about than Duchovny.
Well, The X-Files 2 is in the news again. Coming Soon is reporting the exclusive news that the movie will start filming on December 10th. I guess the exclusive part is that their date is a little more specific than the month most websites were talking about a month ago.
It’s been a decade since the last movie and five years since the television show wrapped. Is there really enough interest in The X-Files to justify this sequel? My guess is dedicated fans will say there is, but fail to show up in the theaters, much like other, more recent spin-offs from sci-fi television shows. No, I’m not naming franchise names; you know who you are.
The exclusive information doesn’t include a release date for the film, although all previous information indicated an anticipated 2008 release.

If Xfiles II had been done , one year ago, when Gillian Anderson was nominated for the Emmys and Golden Globe for her role in Bleak House, she would be the one most talked about.. After just having a baby she indeed is the less talked about in the moment.
The x files will be known in years to come as one of the top 5 television series of all time. I only hope that the franchise continues via the silver screen. I, for one, will be there. Hope to see you too!
