MOVIE NEWS
X-Men Aren't Numbered X3 may not be as good as X2, but at least it has a better title. Brett Ratner and the suits at Fox have settled on X-Men: The Last Stand, according to the guys over at The Movie Blog.
As titles go it’s not genius, but it’s better than the title I still refuse to accept for the last one, X2: X-Men United. My only complaint with this new title is that it’s a bit obvious. It’s kind of like calling it X-Men: This Movie is About the X-Men Making a Last Stand. Thanks for spoiling the plot. Great. Now we’d all better see the Mutant equivalent of the Alamo in this movie or we’ll be disappointed. I hear Ian McKellan does a great Santa Ana impression. It might also be nice to throw the number three in there. The series started a numbering sequence with X2 and I hate it when a numbering sequence is abandoned in mid-count. Whatever you think of The Last Stand as a thing to call the next movie, it’s probably pretty irrelevant. Titles don’t mean a lot, except as a marketing tool to suck people into theaters. From its title, you’d probably think Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World to be one of the year’s most creative, relevant, and funny movies. Read a couple of reviews and you’ll realize that it’s not. I guess the only question worth asking here is will X-Men: The Last Stand look good on a poster? The answer is that unless it’s somehow tattooed across Jean Grey’s bosom… probably not. For more info and photos from X-Men: The Last Stand visit our preview page. |
