X-Men: Days of Future Past Quicksilver Tease

There was a month-long period starting back in late April when it looked as though Marvel Studio's The Avengers 2 would be the first time that we ever got to see a live-action version of the speedy superhero Quicksilver on the big screen - but that story changed very quickly when Twentieth Century Fox, the studio that shares the rights to the character with Marvel, caught wind of the news. In late May director Bryan Singer announced that Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past would also include its own version of Quicksilver, one that would beat Avengers 2 to theaters by almost a full year. It remains unclear how the new X-Men movie will actually be using the character or how he will fit into the story, but one thing is now for certain: we'll get to see his home.

For the first time since mid-June, Singer has Tweeted a new shot from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past - which you can see above. While the image only came with the simple message "House call. #Xmen #DaysOfFuturePast," the name on the mailbox - Maximoff - is a clear reference to Quicksilver's real name, Pietro Maximoff. The hero is being played by American Horror Story's Evan Peters in the new film, but it's unclear if the he will be featured in the story's 1973 timeline with the crew from X-Men: First Class or stuck in the apocalyptic future with the cast from the original X-Men trilogy.

It's worth mentioning that Peters is only 26 years old, meaning that if he's playing a character roughly the same age this probably isn't the house where he lives alone. In the comics he has a pretty notable family, as he is the son of Magneto and the twin brother of Scarlett Witch, but we have no idea if the movie will include either relationship. At this point it actually doesn't look like Scarlett Witch is in Days of Future Past at all, but it was revealed just last week that the production added Australian actor Josh Helman in a key role, so we really have no clue what could be in store.

Based on the classic comic book arc, the story begins in a horrific future where mutants are being hunted down and killed by giant robots called Sentinels that were created by the government to stop the mutant "problem." In order to stop the Sentinels from ever being created, the remaining X-Men send one of their own back in time to the 1970s to try and stop an event that would change all of history. Along with Peters, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Adam Canto, Booboo Stewart and Fan Bing Bing are also new additions to the franchise, while returning stars include James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page, and Daniel Cudmore. The film is obviously still filming, but recently had its release date bumped up from July 18th, 2014 to May 23, 2014.
