MOVIE NEWS
X-Men Directed!![]()
Sorry for the delay with the news, but unlike some places we like to report actual news instead of just claiming we have information.
It appears X-Men 3 finally has a director. The franchise, which has been without a director since Bryan Singer abandoned the films for Superman , has recently been all abuzz with names of possible successors. Now, the news is out, and it’s not any of the previous mentioned names, whether good (Roberto Rodriguez) or bad (Zack Snyder). According to several online sources, the new director will be Matthew Vaughn, former producer of Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and director/producer of Layer Cake. I’m leaving this in the “rumor” category for right now because, while several online places are mentioning this (and you know how trustworthy they can be), there’s no mention in the big papers of this, which means the ink hasn’t dried on the contracts yet, assuming there are any contracts yet. There is really nothing in Vaughn’s filmography to make one believe Fox would trust their golden geek franchise in his hands - he’s untested as a director, and has no real experience with something on this level of fans and budget. So maybe Vaughn is the new director. Maybe he’s not. Either way, at least it’s a name. |
