Y: The Last Man Is Now A Priority At New Line Cinema image
For those of you who have long been waiting for a movie adaptation of the acclaimed comic series Y:The Last Man, I may have some good news. There are now reports that New Line Cinema, which owns the film rights to the Brian K. Vaughn books, is really happy with the latest progress for a film version of the story and have now made it one of the studio's top priorities. The story follows a man named Yorick and his pet monkey as they work to find out why every male creature on Earth is dead with the exception of themselves.

Vulture has the latest word about the project, which has been in various forms of development for nearly a decade. New Line apparently loves the latest draft of the script, which was written by former Jericho writers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia (they started working on the project this past March) and they have already begun the hunt for a director. D.J. Caruso, best known for movies like Eagle Eye, Disturbia and, most recently, I Am Number Four, was previously attached to helm the project, but things did not work out between him and the studio.

Y: The Last Man really is a brilliant story and would be a great movie, but one must wonder if it's ever really going to happen. Obviously this is positive news about the project, but we've been burned before. Just for fun, though, who would you like to see direct an adaptation?
