Yellow Handkerchief Trailer: Kristen Stewart Picks Up A Hitchhiker

By Josh Tyler: 2009-11-11 15:06:52
In the real world when you and your waify bisexual boyfriend drive down the road listening to indie-rock and stop to pick up a mysterious hitchhiker, you’re usually asking to be robbed, raped, beaten, and left for dead in a ditch. In the world of movies though, like a song and dance routine in a lumberjack musical, an indie film is sure to break out.

Some time in between becoming the most famous person ever to star in only one movie anyone has seen and making the next in her Twilight series, Kristen Stewart found time to become involved in just such an indie movie. It’s called The Yellow Handkerchief and picking up a hitchhiker is exactly what she does. The movie’s first trailer is here and it’s about what you’d expect. William Hurt and Maria Bello star along with Stewart and her scarecrow boy toy. Check out the first trailer and poster for The Yellow Handkerchief below:

So what’s it about? Here’s the official plot synopsis:
A love story at its core, THE YELLOW HANDKERCHIEF is about three strangers of two generations who embark on a road trip through post Katrina Louisiana. Along the way, relationships forge and change in a myriad of ways, leading to the possibility of second chances at life and love.

Brett Hanson (William Hurt) dealing with a painful past, crosses paths with Martine (Kristen Stewart), a troubled teenager ,and her new ‘ride’ Gordy (Eddie Redmayne). The trio head out together, each motivated by his/her own reasons: Brett must decide whether he wants to return to the uncertainty of his life and his ex-wife May (Maria Bello) for whom he longs, Martine yearns to escape her family and Gordy hopes to get close to her.

Expect The Yellow Handkerchief in theaters February 12, 2010.
