You're Next Poster Premiere!

You're Next poster

Here it is! Earlier today we brought you an exclusive GIF that previewed the brand-new poster for the upcoming Lionsgate horror film You're Next. Now you can see above the official, full poster! Revel in the horror, the animal masks, the inherent foreboding of that title that promises no escape from the bloodshed. (You can also click to see it larger).

Except… for all that talk of blood and terror (and there's plenty of it), You're Next is a surprisingly funny and light-footed home invasion thriller, directed by Adam Wingard with a self-awareness that never devolves into being smug or ridiculous. You can see how much we liked it in Eric's rave review SXSW, or my own excited take from the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, where I admitted that even a horror scaredy-cat like me could appreciate a scary movie this smart.

And if you don't take our word for it, pay a visit to the movie's official Tumblr Fuck Yeah You're Next, where they've revamped the whole thing to premiere a brand-new GIF version of the poster you see above. There are also, of course, ecstatic quotes from other critics, who promise that it's an example of how to do horror right.

Oh, you missed the GIF teaser earlier today? Lucky for you, here it is again:

And here's more from what we told you about the film earlier today, around the time of that GIF premiere:

If you haven't been following the You're Next buzz up to this point, here are the basics: it's a home invasion thriller, about a wealthy family's reunion interrupted by a bunch of killers wearing animal masks. But just when you think you know where this story is going, it surprises you both with an unexpected hero and a sense of humor that keeps the whole thing moving. It's one of the best horror surprises in the last few years, and coming on August 23, it's the kind of sleeper summer success that can make you forget all about the Iron Man 3's and World War Z's of the world. For more on You're Next you can click here, or visit the film all over social media, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
