When it was just Steve Carell in the cast, Dinner for Schmucks was already a likely must-see. When Paul Rudd signed on, it went to the top of the list. But now that Zach Galifianakis is also in negotiations to join the cast, the remake of the French film is looking like a comedy event like none other.

According to THR Galifianakis will play the boyfriend of Carell's ex-wife, a role that has yet to be cast as far as I can tell. The film is supposed to start filming this fall, with British comedian Lucy Punch also onboard. No idea how big Galifianakis' part will be, though as a veteran scene-stealer, he'll likely be worth watching no matter what.

It's foolish to get blindly excited about any movie, especially one directed by the uneven Jay Roach (he directed all the Austin Powers movies... including the awful third one), but I might not be able to help myself. Carell, Rudd and Galifianakis onscreen together is too hard to resist.
