Zach Galifianakis No Longer Attached To R.I.P.D.![]()
Last weekend, following the Green Lantern panel at WonderCon, star Ryan Reynolds sat down with members of the press to discuss the project, when the subject of R.I.P.D., another comic book adaptation Reynolds is attached to, came up in conversation. Asked if the film would be his next project, Reynolds said that he was unsure, as they are "still trying to work it out with cast and crew." I wonder if this story is what he meant.
Deadline is reporting that due to scheduling issues, Zach Galifianakis has been forced to drop out of R.I.P.D. The comedic actor first entered talks for a role in the film back in February, and he would have played an old west gunslinger who teams up with Reynolds' recently-dead cop character to solve crimes of the dead. Galifianakis wanted to do the film either right before or right after he makes Southern Rivals with Will Ferrell, but Reynolds may have to go make Green Lantern 2 soon, so the scheduling won't work out. The film is being directed by Robert Schwentke. It's looking more and more like R.I.P.D. is entering the realm of "comic book movies that Ryan Reynolds is attached to but may never end up doing." At least it will have some fine company alongside Deadpool. |
