I don't understand this.

Why remove the squid?

Doesn't Snyder recall Cloverfield and how masses of people went to see that film to see what the monster looked like?

How is putting in blue energy nuclear explosions around the world going to bring about world peace?

How is framing Dr. Manhattan twice not redundant, illogical, and suspicious?

The squid is a big chunk of the story of Watchmen that goes to the heart of all the characters. By taking out the squid Snyder has effectively cut out the heart of Watchmen.

I did a complete 180... I was in love with Zach and his adaptation, but now, I wish he would go away.... this is SOOOO disappointing, I can't even begin to describe how ridiculously stupid the new ending is vis a vis the old one.

Good job in RUINING what could have been one of the coolest scenes ever and making it a generic blue flash. Real original Zach, real original.

I may be the only fan not up in arms about changing the squid ending. I get what Snyder is saying. He is saying that people should be more concerned that the message of the movie is not lost, and not worry so much about the squid. I will be satisfied if Snyder can come up with a new ending that preserves the message of "is the end worth the means." Frankly, I think he will come up with something better that will preserve the spirit of the ending, will be a little less silly than a giant squid and that will be more of a zeitgeist. Or he could totally blow it. Here's to hoping against the latter.

I didn't want to believe it. But it seems it is now true. I'm amazed that he could call himself a fan of the comic and still try to defend this.

Zack Snyder, I liked Dawn Of The Dead & 300. But who knows what the rest of your catalogue will be like because I won't be seeing them. Fuck you, you studio sell-out waste of space.

this is unreal...snyder totally doesn't understand the way allan moore wanted this story to be digested. i was looking forward to his adaptation until now, cause it did seem well done until this news bit came out, along with my lunch. i might go see it still...but i will certainly be paying for a ticket to another film and be sneaking into this one...shame on you snyder.

This is a shame. He seems like he's so close to capturing the book, but he is demonstrating he doesn't really understand the material. Dr Manhattan cannot be the setup. Like Snyder says, Manhattan is God and he is an American. Why would the world come together when the threat clearly comes from the United States? Maybe the world comes together to annhiliate the US but that's not the point of the book.
