Renee Zellweger is taking a break from tedious period dramas to hang out in rural Minnesota. Variety reports that Renee is currently in negotiations to star in the fish-out-of-water comedy Chilled in Miami alongside Harry Connick Jr.

The movie casts Zellweger as a Miami businesswoman transferred to the middle of nowhere. Since he’s basically typecast as a hick, I’d imagine that Harry Connick plays the incredibly sexy, downhome farmer who she at first clashes with and then falls head over heels in love with.

It’s been so long since we’ve seen Renee in anything that didn’t require a corset I’ve almost forgotten what she looks like in pants. But then I staunchly avoided the Bridget Jones sequel, and apparently so did the rest of America. Unless she wore that not-as-cute-as-everyone-pretends-it-is bunny costume through the entire film, it’s probably safe to assume there was a pair of jeans in there somewhere. Other than the Bridget Jones movies though, Zellweger has spent most of her time mucking around in the past, doing movies like Cold Mountain and Cinderella Man. It’ll be nice to see if she can still pull off using modern conveniences.
