Director Robert Zemeckis is on a 3-D movie kick as of late. He began his newfound addiction with 2004’s IMAX version of Polar Express, which grossed close to $46 million, and continued his success this year with the 3-D release of Monster House. Why quit while you’re ahead, right?

According to Hollywood Reporter, Zemeckis will also feature his upcoming live-action film Beowulf in 3-D. The epic tale, starring Angelina Jolie, Crispin Glover, Anthony Hopkins, and Ray Winstone, will appear in more than 1,000 Read D theaters and other 3-D locations, courtesy of Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros Pictures.

"Bob Zemeckis instinctively presents his films in a very dynamic way that suits itself perfectly for the 3-D experience, and 'Beowulf' is no exception -- the film is an ideal match for the Real D system and other large-format 3-D presentations," says his producing partner, Steve Starkey. It’s too bad that he didn’t jump on the 3-D bandwagon a while ago—it would been cool to see Cast Away's Wilson popping out of the ocean and Forrest Gump practically running off the screen.

Beowulf is set to premiere nationwide on Nov. 16, 2007.
