Zoe Saldana May Join Mark Ruffalo In J.J. Abrams-Produced Infinitely Polar Bear![]()
Infinitely Polar Bear qualifies as one of the strangest movie titles I’ve ever heard. It’s right up there with Pootie Tang, Quantum of Solace or Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire. At least the actors lining up to tell Polar Bear lead us to believe we could be in for something special.
Zoe Saldana currently is negotiating to join Mark Ruffalo in this marital drama with a medical twist, Vulture reports. And once you learn that Lost, Alias and Super 8 guru J.J. Abrams is producing the material, the inclusion of a twist should have been assumed. Maya Forbes of The Larry Sanders Show will write and direct this drama about “a bipolar husband and father who goes off his medication, and then loses both his sanity and job while struggling to hold onto his marriage." Saldana’s angling to play Ruffalo’s beleaguered and beautiful wife in the production. As much as I hate the title, I’m thrilled to see talented actors like Saldana and Ruffalo find mature work outside of the massive popcorn franchises that currently employ them: Star Trek and The Avengers, respectively. As for the former, Vulture actually has a little bit of news on the Trek sequel in its report, saying Saldana could go right from Polar Bear in September to the second installment of the rebooted sci-fi series in November, though the site couldn’t confirm or deny whether Abrams will be in the director’s chair for that anticipated film. |
