A.M. Awesome: Alka Seltzer By Guillermo del Toro

As we ring in the new year, it only makes sense that we continue hearing about what visionary director Guillermo del Toro is up to. Since we’re out of important stuff to say about his current career, we’re looking back at what he’s done in the past and the results are mind blowing.

Thompson on Hollywood unearthed a 20-year-old Spanish Alka Seltzer ad that del Toro directed and even acted in as a young man. Even then his influences laid heavily in the horror realm as he draws directly from the horror classic An American Werewolf in London, somehow recreating that iconic transformation sequence for a teensy little commercial for indigestion. To be fair though, indigestion does in fact transform you into a werewolf, so look out.
