Abigail Breslin has gotten plenty of work since her debut nearly ten years ago in M. Night Shyamalan’s alien thriller, Signs, but not so much that audiences are getting sick of her. She’s constantly working and every year or so there’s one project that reminds the masses that she exists and has major talent. Little Miss Sunshine, where she became one of the youngest actresses to earn herself an Oscar nomination, was her first big role after Signs, and most recently we remember her as Little Rock in Reuben Fleischer’s Zombieland.

According to Variety, the 15-year-old actress will be accessing her dark side for Class Project. She’s signed on to play one of two sisters who grow weary of their mother’s drinking problem and abusive boyfriends, and begin hatching a plan to kill her. Details on Class Project are very slim--we don’t know any more casting news beyond Breslin--but production is set to kick off at the end of the month, and with only about a week to go before then we should be hearing some more casting decisions in the very near future.

Breslin will also be appearing in Garry Marshall’s much anticipated Valentine’s Day follow up New Year’s Eve, alongside 90% of Hollywood, and will then stat with Maggie Gyllenhaal in the vampire flick Innocence. With actresses like Emma Stone appearing in what seems like just about every movie under the sun, it’s good to see that the talented Breslin isn’t wearing out her welcome. She’s working enough, but not so much that audiences are getting tired of her. Class Project will really get her to spread her wings as an actress, and hopefully she continues taking roles that are challenging like this.
