Abraham Lincoln Looks Badass In Two New Vampire Hunter Posters
By now you’ve no doubt seen the candid photographs of Daniel Day-Lewis in character on the set of Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. These are … something different: “Honest” Abe tipping his signature hat, contemplating vampire hunting on two exclusive posters for Timur Bekmambetov’s Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. We have them below and you can see them full size over on IGN:
![]() ![]() I love the design on these. You can’t see him in the poster, but that’s Benjamin Walker as Lincoln. He’ll be joined on screen by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln, Dominic Cooper as Henry Sturgess, Rufus Sewell as Adam, Alan Tudyk as Stephen A. Douglas, and Jaqueline Fleming as Harriet Tubman. That’s awesome. The film is Bekmambetov’s adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s mash-up novel, which re-imagines our 16th president as a vampire slayer stomping through the Civil War-era United States. Bekmambetov is at the head of this mash-up movement, though he might be the only literary combo we see unless Vampire Hunter makes a ton of money. Plans to make a feature film out of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies routinely stall, though you can bet the project will be greenlit – quickly – if Lincoln proves to be a hit. And I think there’s a ton of potential. Bekmambetov hasn’t tackled a full-fledged feature since 2008’s Wanted, and likely will use Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter as a vessel for his kinetic energies. With this left-of-center premise, he could deliver a wickedly funny ride. We’ll find out come June 22, 2012, when this one finally opens. |
