ACE Eddie Award Nominees: Sci-Fi Does It Again!![]()
As all the guilds in Hollywood announce their nominees for the best directors, screenplays, producers and editors of the year, there are indispensible awards-focused sites like Awards Daily to tell you what it all means for the Oscar race. For example, the ACE Eddie Awards nominations were announced today, and did you know that, based on recent history, it's impossible to win Best Picture if your film doesn't get nominated? Of course, the Eddies are divided into drama, comedy, documentary and animated categories, meaning there are a lot of options there. But with Inglourious Basterds, Invictus, An Education and Nine all absent from the nominees entirely, it's verrrry interesting nonetheless.
Of course, many of the usual suspects are represented-- Avatar, The Hurt Locker and Up in the Air all made it into the Drama category, while A Serious Man and (500) Days of Summer showed up in Comedy. Star Trek and District 9 continue making their surprising guild runs, both of them showing up in Drama and both of them now demanding to be considered seriously as possibilities, if not guarantees, for Best Picture nominations. Check out the full list of nominees below.
