Adam Sandler Acts Like A Girl In Jack & Jill![]()
Remember how in Funny People Adam Sandler plays a character who makes a bunch of high-concept broad comedies that are obvious cash grabs? With Waterboy and Little Nicky on his resume, it was hard not to assume that these fake movies were somewhat self-aware stabs at himself, perhaps an acknowledgement of past mistakes from an older, more talented Sandler. But who am I kidding? This is Adam Sandler.
Still Variety says Sandler is a changed man. No, he’s not going all Bill Murray, working on credible indie flicks, showing off his acting chops. He’s just not going to be a man, at least half of the time. Sandler’s next role in the film Jack & Jill, a romantic comedy made through his Happy Madison production company, will have him playing both of the title characters. The movie will be penned by Click writer Steve Koren and distributed by Columbia Pictures. Although Funny People wasn’t all I thought it’d be, I did hope that Sandler would begin to take more dramatic roles, as it’s obvious that he has the skills to do so. He’s proves it every few years. Instead, it’s likely we’ll be subjected to five or so Happy Madison throwaway pictures for every great performance we get out of this guy. It makes me wonder: how long until Adam Sandler realizes he’s getting too old to make weird noises? Back to top
