Adam Sandler Comedy I Hate You, Dad Retitled Donny's Boy, First Image Arrives Online
Adam Sandler has been on a critical rough streak for a good number of years now, but in the last two it has intensified greatly. Since 2010 the actor has released has been in four movies and has averaged a score of 11.5% on Rotten Tomatoes (and that's not even including the universally panned Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star, on which he served as a screenwriter and producer). With two movies coming out in 2012, one would hope that he is ready to turn things around and start making good movies again, and perhaps that shift starts with the title change for his one live-action movie from this year.
According to the LA Times 2012 preview (which has been confirmed by IMDb) the title of I Hate You, Dad, which also stars Andy Samberg, has been changed to Donny's Boy. The story is about a father (Sandler) who moves in with his son (Samberg) just as the scion is making arrangements for his wedding. Things get heated when the dad and bride-to-be (Leighton Meester) begin to clash. In addition to revealing the title change, the site has also posted the first image from the movie, which you can see below.
Directed by Sean Anders and John Morris, Donny's Boy also stars Susan Sarandon, Eva Amurri, James Caan, Milo Ventimiglia, and Will Forte. For those that fear for the worst, it should be noted that the script was re-written by Ken Marino and David Wain, who are the minds behind great movies like Wet Hot American Summer and Role Models. Look for the movie when it arrives in theaters on June 15.
