Adam Scott To Take John Cusack's Place In Hot Tub Time Machine 2
Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry and Clark Duke are all ready to take another trip in the Hot Tub Time Machine, but sadly John Cusack will not. While no reason is specified at this time, it appears as though he will be the only member of the main cast that doesn't return. But the good news is that the project has already found an actor to fill the void, and it's a great choice.
The Wrap is reporting that Adam Scott, best known for his work on television shows like Parks and Recreation and Party Down, is now in talks to join the cast of Hot Tub Time Machine 2. In addition to Robinson, Corddry and Duke, director Steve Pink will be returning to direct the project as well. It's been reported that the movie will start production this summer, presumably to have it ready for a 2014 release.
The site stresses that Scott will not be playing Cusack's character from the first movie and is, instead, "an entirely new leading man." How he will fit into the plot, however, is another question entirely.
While the fifth season of Parks and Recreation ended last week, Scott still has some good stuff coming up later this year. He has a role in Ben Stiller's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which won't be out until December, but he also has the indie comedy A.C.O.D., which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. In the movie he stars as a grown man who discovers that as a child he was actually part of a study to discover the effects that divorces have on children. Film Arcade has picked the movie up for distribution, but a release date has not yet been announced.
