It's always great when actors are cast as family members and you can totally believe that they would be related in real life. A perfect example of this is Knocked Up, in which director Judd Apatow got Harold Ramis to play Seth Rogen's dad. Thanks to their shared curly hair and chubby faces, it would be easy to convince any non-regular movie watcher that they're actually father and son. Conversely, it's irritating when casting directors put absolutely no effort into the process. When that happens you get something like this story.

According to Twitch, Amanda Seyfried has been offered the role of Cosette in Tom Hooper's Les Miserables. In the musical, the character is the daughter of Fantine, who is set to be played by Anne Hathaway. The actresses are close in age, but their stories are told more than a decade apart, which explains why Seyfried, who is only three years younger than Hathaway, can play the daughter. Also already attached to the film are Hugh Jackman (as Jean Valjean), Helena Bonham Carter, Russell Crowe, and Sacha Baron Cohen. The screenplay was written by William Nicholson and the film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 7th.

Because they are so close in age you can't ask if they look like they could be mother and daughter, but is there anyone on this planet who would even think that Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried are sisters? Seyfried is opera trained, so it's understandable why Hooper would want her for the part, but he's also asking a lot of the audience to assume shared DNA between the two actresses.
