We learned yesterday that Sandra Bullock will not be playing Clint Eastwood's daughter in the baseball drama Trouble With The Curve. Offered the role a month a go, the initial report didn't say what happened, but negotiations apparently fell through, leaving the project without a female lead. But it didn't take long for them to start considering replacements: the article said that Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon were both being looked at as Bullock's replacement, and now an offer has been extended.

According to Variety, the film, which is going to be directed by Eastwood's producing partner at Malpaso Robert Lorenz, has reached out to Adams for the gig. The movie is about a baseball scout who is on the verge of retirement due to his failing eyesight. Deciding to go on one final mission, he hops in the car with his daughter to go look at a hot prospect in Atlanta, Georgia. The film will be Lorenz's directorial debut and will be the first time that Eastwood has starred in a movie he didn't direct since 1993's In The Line of Fire (which was helmed by Wolfgang Petersen). The script was written by Randy Brown, who will have the film as his first credit in the film industry.

As much as I love Adams (she really is one of the best actresses going right now) the thing that makes this casting a bit awkward is the age gap. Eastwood is now 81 years old while Adams is only 37. Assuming that their characters will be playing their actual ages, this would mean that Adams' character was born when Eastwood's was 44. Maybe they'll just explain that his wife was 15 years younger than him or something.
