Arthur Christmas Trailer Brings The Holiday Spirit To Early October
I love Christmas as much as the next person, probably more than the next person, but it takes a lot to start get me excited about the holiday when I haven't even figured out what i want to dress as for Halloween. Lucky for the people at Sony Pictures who are trying to promote Arthur Christmas, they've sent James McAvoy to do the job. The actor is charming even in vocal form in this new trailer for the holiday movie, which debuted at Yahoo! Movies and is embedded below. Be charmed despite yourself and well talk after.
Believe it nor, there was actually another new one today, which premiered at MSN. It's very, very similar, and I have no idea why they premiered on the same day, but there you have it. Take a look at the MSN version below.
The distinctive look of Aardman Animation, the people behind Chicken Run and the Wallace and Gromit movies, also goes a long way toward making this look like a little bit more than a crass attempt to make holiday movie money (though of course, it's that too). Sony has been showing preview footage from the movie to critics on both coasts in the last few days, and early reports from our LA embedded mole (a.k.a. Eric Eisenberg) say that it's even more charming in long-form. By the time the movie actually comes to theaters on November 23, I imagine I'll be in the proper Christmas spirit to actually enjoy it. Yes, we skip right over Thanksgiving spirit when it comes to holiday movie releases.
