Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff Joins The Riddick Sequel
Katee Sackhoff is certainly no stranger to the world of science-fiction. In addition to starring as Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace on Battlestar Galactica, she did a few episodes of the Bionic Woman reboot, a voice in Futurama, and a one-time appearance in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. But those were all television efforts. Now she's ready to bring her geek girl status to the big screen as, according to Deadline, she's now in talks to play the female lead in the next Riddick movie.
An untitled sequel to both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, the movie may have Sackhoff playing a character named Dahl, a mercenary who is hired to track down Riddick, played by Vin Diesel. The project is being both written and directed by David Twohy, who served the same duties on the last two films. Over the last few years the film has gone through many ups and downs. Diesel first announced that a script was being written in March of last year, but there was a two-month production shutdown recently due to financial troubles that were resolved when the movie found financing in November.
Even though she has a massive following, Sackhoff actually doesn't have that much film acting experience. While she's been doing TV work since the late 90s, she only has four previously released titles on her resume, including horror sequels Halloween: Resurrection and White Noise 2: The Light. She does have multiple upcoming projects, however, two of which are currently in post-production, so hopefully those numbers will grow quickly.
