Breaking Bad's Mark Margolis Joins Darren Aronofsky's Noah image
While Mark Margolis' recent acclaim includes a much-deserved Emmy nomination, before he was playing the wheelchair bound Tio Salamanca on Breaking Bad, he appeared in numerous Darren Aronofsky films. That's putting it mildly as Margolis' acting credits include every feature-length film Aronofsky is credited for directing. And it looks like the upcoming epic biblical drama Noah will be no exception to that.

Aronofsky's Noah stars Russell Crowe as the biblical character Noah, with Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson and Anthony Hopkins also among the cast. It was announced today that Margolis will join the film, playing a character named Samyaza. No details on the nature of the character were mentioned, but a quick background check on that name delivered results about a leader of a group of fallen angels called the Grigori, so perhaps that will factor into the role - either directly or as inspiration - in some way. We'll have to wait and see.

As mentioned, Margolis' credits include numerous Aronofsky-directed films (Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler and Black Swan). But most recently, he earned himself an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his fantastic performance as Tio Salamanca in Breaking Bad. Though he said much more with angry glares and breathing, and the rapid dinging of his bell than he was ever able to say with words in this role, his performance definitely contributed to the greatness of the series, which is currently in its final season. With his part on Breaking Bad wrapped up, it's good to see his schedule cleared up so that he can continue lending his talents to Aronofsky films. He set off to Iceland, where the film is currently in production, to get started on Noah.
