Gaspar Noe turned a lot of heads last year when his film Enter The Void hit US shores. Entrancing some and being rejected by others, the film had a profound effect on people, Quentin Tarantino calling the opening credits sequence "One of the greatest in cinema history," and Kanye West taking a page out of Noe's book for his "All of the Lights" music video. Never one to shy away from controversy - you might remember that he also directed a little film called Irreversible - now it appears that the Argentinian director may work with one of the most controversial American writers, according to ScreenDaily.

Muse Productions is currently promoting their slate at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival and according to the report, The Golden Suicides, based on a script written by Bret Easton Ellis, has caught Noe's attention. Based on a Vanity Fair article of the same name, the story is about a videogame designer and digital artist who, suffering from extreme paranoia, decide to kill themselves. The project is the first original screenplay written by Ellis, whose books American Psycho, Less Than Zero, The Rules of Attraction and The Informers were previous adapted. Another one of Ellis' projects, an adaptation of the book Lunar Park, is also looking for a director.

I can't tell if this is a match made in hell or in heaven. Debate all you want about the quality of Ellis' experiences in the film world, the man has always found a way to ruffle people's feathers and a partnership with a director like Gaspar Noe could make for one comically large powder keg.
