"You want someone to phone it in, you get Kirk Cameron. You want someone to be a savage you get Fred... Savage." - Fred Savage (playing himself in Happy Endings).

While he's probably best associated for his acting work, Fred Savage has actually logged more credits as a director than he has as an actor, with most of his directing work done for television. But the Wonder Years star has his sights on the big screen with Ladies Night and according to The Wrap, the project just landed an Oscar winner for its starring role.

Skydance Productions will co-finance and produce the film, which has yet to secure a distributer. Directed by Savage, Ladies Night centers on a woman (Charlize Theron) whose boyfriend is having some commitment issues. She sets her sights on moving out to New York but plans one last night out with the girls before she moves. The film is said to be a cross between Bridesmaids and The Hangover. With that in mind, it sounds like a fun comedy and a great opportunity for Theron to flex her sense of humor with a lighter role.

She's been showing us her serious side more recently, with starring roles in Prometheus and Snow White and the Huntsman. Coming up, she has Mad Max: Fury Road and the feature adaptation of Gillian Flynn's Dark Places. Further down the road, we'll also see her in Seth MacFarlane's western comedy A Million Ways To Die In The West.

Ladies Night already has Theron going for it. It'll be interesting to see who's cast among the other "ladies" in the film, and who will play the mentioned boyfriend.
