Right now, Chris Evans isn’t set to don the stars and stripes of Captain America’s superhero suit until Anthony and Joe Russo start rolling cameras on The Winter Soldier in March 2013. But if the actor gets his wish, we might see him in character a bit sooner than that … but where?
Evans was in Toronto promoting The Iceman, his hit-man drama with Michael Shannon, but took the time to talk Marvel with Collider. The big reveal of the conversation involved a tease for a possible Cap cameo in the Thor sequel, which Game of Thrones helmer Alan Taylor is filming in England. On the subject, Evans said:
“[Chris] Hemsworth and I even talked about that. I would love to do a little thing in Thor 2. It is obviously going to be tricky trying to work out the plot, the reason why I am not there to help him, and why he is not there to help me. But the best thing about Marvel is that, like I said, the movies were so good and we had such a good time making them.”
And we had a good time watching them, obviously. The logistics that Marvel would have to work out is Steve Rogers’ existence on Earth, while the rest of Thor appears to be taking place in Asgard (and other worlds). Then again, Natalie Portman’s set to reprise her role as Jane Foster (after sitting out The Avengers), so the story will have to swing by our planet for some short amount of time. Perhaps Cap can cameo then? Or maybe it will be another post-credit sequence that teases The Winter Solider?
As for that sequel, Evans elaborates on the deleted Avengers scenes involving Cap and his struggle to fit into a modern time. And Evans says that those scene belong to Cap’s story, hinting that the sequel will get into more of Rogers’ personal issues. Good. That’s probably where they belong (and Avengers didn’t need those scenes). So a lot of Marvel news on the move.
