New Compliance Trailer Is Here To Make You Question Authority

Back in the early 1960s Yale University psychologist Stanley Milgram set up an experiment. He would bring one subject into a room where they were sat in front of a control panel. The subject was then told that there was another subject in the next room who was attached to electrical diodes. Milgrim would instruct the first subject to administer a series of intensifying electrical shocks to the second subject, whom the first subject could listen to through an intercom. Despite screams of pain, some of the subjects would find themselves administering lethal doses of electricity. The test, of course, wasn't real - there wasn't actually anybody in the second room - and the experiment was used to gauge how people reacted to instructions given to them by people in positions of authority. It was a truly horrifying experiment and now a film has been made about a similar situation.

In Compliance, the Sundance hit based on a true story and written and directed by Craig Zobel, a prank caller manages to convince a fast food manager that he is a police officer and that one of her employees has stolen money from a customer. The result is reportedly a great psychological thriller and today we have the first trailer for the film. Watch the preview below and see it in HD over on Apple.



Our own Katey Rich saw the film at this year's Sundance and absolutely raved about it, saying that it's "as simple and direct as a gun to the head, and while it's impossible not to squirm while you're watching it, it's impossible to stop thinking about when it's over." Needless to say, this is a movie that should be on your radar when it arrives in theaters
