Saturday Night Live may be the show that people think of when asked what television program has produced the best comedic stars, but The Daily Show With Jon Stewart deserves recognition as well. Since its inception the show has graduated some high class names, including Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Ed Helms, Rob Corddry and Rob Riggle. It's only a matter of time before the current cast of correspondents find their way into the movie world as well, and now Jason Jones is taking a major step.

Jones, who has been on The Daily Show since 2005, is now attached to The Black Marks, a comedy from director Jonathan Sobol. The story follows a motorcycle stuntman and former art thief named Crunch Calhoun (played by Kurt Russell) who is drawn into pulling one last heist with his younger brother (Matt Dillon. The movie also stars Jay Baruchel, Terence Stamp, Chris Diamantopoulos, Katheryn Winnick and Kenneth Welsh. According to Deadline, Jones will be playing an Interpol agent in the movie, presumably hunting Calhoun and his gang down. Production has already begun and it is already in week four of a six week schedule. The film was picked up for distribution by Dimension Films last month.

I can't say that Jason Jones is my favorite Daily Show correspondent, but he is a good choice for this part. He does straight-laced quite well and that's exactly what you need from a government agent hunting down a gang of art thieves. Hopefully the script is strong enough to take advantage of Jones' strengths.
