David Duchovny & Vera Farmiga Leading All-Star Goats Cast![]()
Keri Russell and Will Arnett are currently co-stars on Fox's Running Wilde, but the writing's been on the wall for a while now that cancellation would end that partnership pretty quickly. They don't have to worry about growing too far apart, though, as the two have signed on to co-star in the indie comedy Goats, which starts shooting next month with Vera Farmiga, Minnie Driver, Ty Burrell and Graham Phillips rounding out the cast. Christopher Nell will be making his directorial debut on the project, and if you're wondering how he managed to wrangle such an impressive cast for his first outing, the press release makes specific mention of the fact that Francis Ford Coppola is his uncle. Ah. That explains a lot.
The film is based on Mark Jude Poirier's novel of the same name, about 15-year-old Ellis's (Phillips) decision to move away from his mother (Farmiga) and his mentor known as Goat Man (Duchovny) in order to attend an East Coast prep school. It sounds like a lot of the film will take place back at his mom's house, though, as Driver plays her best friend and Arnett her boyfriend (Burrell plays Ellis's father Frank, and Russell Frank's new wife). The film will be presented at the Berlinale Film Festival later this spring, even with filming just underway. I'm gonna make the bold prediction that we'll see this at Sundance next year-- it just sounds like the right kind of movie, doesn't it?-- so if that happens you all owe me a Coke. |
